Foundation “RT-ON” is looking for a passionate and creative finance campaigner to join our
team to help accelerate the shift of investment and underwriting by (re)insurance companies
away from coal mines and power plants and towards clean. The geographical focus is on
Central and Eastern Europe, South and Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Western Balkans with
cooperation with the European and global campaigns focusing on the insurance and
reinsurance companies climate alignment. Experience and knowledge about insurance and
reinsurance sectors is a plus.
Location:
Remotely, Europe with a requirement for travel and participation in physical meetings
throughout the project duration
Remuneration:
Depending on experience and location.
Terms and conditions:
The position is to be filled immediately; a 1 years contract with a possibility to be prolonged
further, full-time and part-time employment are both possible depending on the candidate’s
qualities and preferences.
About Us:
Foundation “RT-ON” is the formal and legal representation of the Polish Coalition “RTON,” a
civil society grassroots movement to prevent plans to build new lignite open-pit mines and to
support the transformation of the Polish economy towards an efficient and
renewables-based one. The Foundation is also a member of the Insure Our Future network
which urges the insurance industry to phase out coal insurance and reinsurance at the speed
required by science and the urgency of the unfolding climate crisis.
About You:
You understand the importance of solving the climate crisis, you are committed and
passionate about making a change. You have a deep understanding of the financial markets
and the fossil fuel industry. You understand international finance & how the insurance
markets operate. An understanding of corporate campaigning and the role of
financial/insurance markets in driving climate change would be an asset. You preferably have
a minimum of three years’ experience with the finance sector or corporate campaigning with a demonstrated record of implementing strategies. You feel comfortable working with a wide
range of stakeholders- from grassroot movements to finance professionals and governmental
institutions. You have strong oral skills, feel comfortable while public appearances and are
persuasive. You are a team player. You are fluent in English and at least one other European
language. Knowledge of languages spoken in CEE, SEE, the Western Balkans or Turkey is an
additional asset.
The role:
We’re a small team and we’re looking for a Finance Campaigner who has experience with
either the insurance and reinsurance sectors or financial campaigning. Your role will focus on
working to support a campaign targeting insurance and reinsurance institutions with a
special focus on supporting campaign efforts in the Balkans, Bulgaria, Turkey.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop innovative strategies to accelerate the shift of the insurance sector away from
fossil fuels
- Ability to communicate changes in the insurance and reinsurance industry’s approach
to coal and other fossil fuels underwriting to a different set on national and
international stakeholders with an emphasis on the target countries
- Participate in national and regional conferences representing Fundacja “RT-ON”
- Represent Fundacja “RT-ON” in meetings with insurance and reinsurance
professionals, financial regulators and analysts
- Keeping up-to-date with changes of the climate and other policies limiting
underwriting and reinsurance of and investments in the the fossil fuel industry in the
target countries
- Keeping up-to-date with the on the ground struggles against fossil fuel infrastructure
in the target countries
- Represent Fundacja “RT-ON” at various coalition & stakeholders meetings,
conferences, Annual General Meetings.
- Participate in radio, press and TV interviews in the target countries, answer journalists
questions
- Share knowledge with and support Fundacja “RT-ON” partner organisations in Europe
and globally
